LC man accused of sexual battery, molestation of juvenile

A Lake Charles man has been charged with felony sexual battery and molestation of a juvenile involving two separate victims.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kayla Vincent said detectives received a complaint on Nov. 6 regarding William C. Smith, 32, committing sexual battery on a juvenile. She said during further investigation detectives learned of a second juvenile victim.

Detectives were able to obtain evidence corroborating the victims’ statements, Vincent said.

On Nov. 8, after Smith spoke with detectives, he was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with seven counts of felony sexual battery; and molestation of a juvenile.

Judge Tony Fazzio set his bond at $700,000.
