LSU will gets its wish for its home showdown with Alabama.

The game on Nov. 5, which will give the winner control of the SEC West and a clear path to the conference championship game, will be played just like LSU prefers it — at night in Tiger Stadium with a 6 p.m. kickoff on ESPN.

Of course, an afternoon home game didn’t bother the Tigers last week in a 45-20 victory over previously No. 7-ranked Ole Miss, a win that bolted the Tigers back into the rankings at No. 18 in the AP media poll and No. 20 in the coaches’ poll.

Both LSU (6-2, 4-1 SEC) and Alabama (7-1, 4-1) will have open dates this week before the showdown next week.

Meanwhile, the big win over the Rebels earned three Tigers individual honors handed out by the SEC.

Quarterback Jayden Daniels was the conference’s offensive player of the week, Mehki Wingo was named the defensive lineman of the week and Harold Perkins was the league’s freshman of the week.

Daniels took charge of LSU’s offense for the second week in a row, throwing for 248 yards on 21 of 28 passes with two scoring passes while also running for 121 yards and three touchdowns.

Over the last two games, he’s accounted for 11 touchdowns as the previous week against Florida he threw for three and ran for three more.

His nine rushing touchdowns and 524 yards rushing are already an LSU single-season record for a quarterback.

Wingo, a sophomore transfer from Missouri, had seven tackles along with 1.5 sacks for 18 yards in losses.

He also forced a fumble, knocked down two passes and had a quarterback hurry.

Perkins, a true freshman from Houston, was credited by Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin as the main catalyst for LSU shutting out the Rebels in the game’s final 44 minutes.

Perkins finished with five tackles, a sack for a 6-yard loss, a pass breakup a two QB hurries.
