Nolan Miller

We regret to announce the passing of our sweet daddy.
Nolan Miller, born in Woodlawn on Dec. 13, 1926, son of the late Claude C. and Theresa (Hebert) Miller, passed away in the SW Louisiana Veterans Home in Jennings on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2022, at age 95.
Nolan, a graduate of Lacassine High, attended college in Oklahoma. He joined the U. S. Army in May of 1944 and had tours in the Philippines and Japan. He returned to the U. S. in 1947 and was stationed in Alaska. He was discharged honorably in 1952 after serving in WWII and Korea. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and Woodlawn Baptist.
Nolan was a self-employed farmer and carpenter. He enjoyed mowing, listening and dancing to French music and being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Wilton Miller, J.C. Miller, Donald Miller, Vurtis Miller, Otis Miller, Elaine Guthrey, Jeanette Perrin, Ellen Miller, and Delores Hagan; and his son-in-law, Billy Precht Jr.
Nolan is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Shirley Comeaux Miller; children, David Miller (Jodi), Roderick Miller (Sherrie), Carolyn Fontenot (David), and Debora Precht; grandchildren, Matt Fontenot (Danielle), Ryan Fontenot, Kane Fontenot (Hannah), Lauren Thompson (Andrew), William Precht III (Adelyn), Jenny Miller Marsh (Richard); four great-grandchildren, Madison and Aiden Fontenot, and Hayden and Nora Thompson.
Memorial services will be held in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2022 at 6 p.m. with Pastor Richard Louviere officiating. A gathering of friends of family will begin in the funeral home at 2 p.m. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa.
