Mary Evelyn Holland

Mary Evelyn Holland was one of six children born to Luther Wyatt Jr. and Mary Francis Donald. She was born June 19, 1933 in Meridian, Miss.
Coming from humble beginnings, the importance of faith and family were instilled, a belief she carried forth in her marriage and children. She and her husband Kenneth B. Holland welcomed three children, Keith, Brad, and Mary. Her husband worked for the U.S. Air Force, and upon his retirement in 1967 they settled in Lake Charles upon accepting a job with Lockheed.
She was versatile, she sewed clothes for her children and grandchild in their younger years and for her collection of dolls. If she wasn’t listening to the police scanner, you’d hear music from the Grand Ole Opry or the classic country music of the 40’s and 50’s.
Thanksgiving was her most cherished holiday, as she was ever thankful for her family coming together.
She was welcomed into Heaven on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022, by her husband of 62 years, Kenneth B. Holland; her parents; sisters, Euna, Ester, Dorothy, Margaret; brothers, Robert, Donald and Luther Jr.
Those left to cherish her memory; children, Keith (Nelda) G. Holland, Brad (Karen) Holland, and Mary (Al) Findley; five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Family to welcome friends at Johnson Funeral Home, Friday, Oct. 14, 2022, beginning 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Consolata Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers family asks donations be made in her memory to any veteran nonprofit.
