LTC Raymond Edward Horn Jr.

Raymond Edward Horn, Jr., age 84, of Lake Charles, La., passed away on Friday, Oct. 7, 2022.
Raymond was born Sept. 25, 1938, in Lake Charles, La., to parents Raymond Edward Horn Sr. and Selma Edith Horn.
Raymond served in the special forces Green Berets for 20 years in The United States Army where he received numerous awards for his dedicated service, including; two Bronze Stars one with Valor, a Silver Star, as well as a Purple Heart. He served in the Vietnam war, as well as tours in Indonesia, Panama, Columbia, and Japan before retiring as Lieutenant Colonel.
He was involved as a trainer in JRTC, a Master PADI instructor, and a SERE instructor, and worked at Area 51. After retirement he was instrumental in the development of the Lake Charles Police SWAT Team. He also enjoyed; woodworking, fishing, boating, and camping with his family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Frances “Carol” Horn; parents, Raymond Edward Horn Sr. and Selma Edith Horn; grandson, Andrew Courville; and his cherished dog, Stormy.
He is survived by his children, Raymond Horn III “Bub”, Tammie Horn Courville and husband Blake Courville, Blake Horn and wife Cathy Horn; his grandchildren, Kent Tyler Horn, Nicholas Cade Courville, Michael Grant Courville, Madison Malvern and husband Daron, Gracie Radocha and husband Jaden, and Michael Horn.
The family will welcome the public for visitation Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022, at Trinity Baptist Church from 12 p.m. until time of Funeral Service at 3 p.m.
Interment will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
