A weak cold front is expected to move through late Friday into early Saturday bringing drier and somewhat cooler air into the region for the weekend.

Stacey Denson, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service Lake Charles, said Sunday’s temperatures could drop to 57 degrees and Monday’s  even lower at 55.

Denson said a high-pressure system is extending from southwest Texas to the Appalachians. The cold front is draped from Illinois to the Arkansas-Louisiana-Texas area.

She said a warming-moistening trend will begin early next week with the area’s next best chance of rain arriving Wednesday or Thursday ahead of another frontal system.
