On Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022, Barbara Lynn Kraus gained her angel wings.
Barbara was born on Dec. 16, 1957, in Lake Charles, La., to parents, Hollie Peavy and Imogene Smith. She and Mark were married in 1979 in Edmonton, Alberta and moved many times for Mark’s job before settling in Kingwood, Texas in 1990 to raise their two babies, Jessica and Benjamin.
Barbara was a member of the Kingwood Church of Christ where she enjoyed being a part of the meal service ministry, preparing meals for those who were ill or in need. She prioritized and loved spending time and sharing meals with her children, grandchildren, and extended family; often hosting and entertaining at home. Barbara was an avid gardener and loved spending time in her yard tending to her flowers, a passion she shared with her mom.
Barbara was the most beautiful person inside and out. She was genuine, funny, giving, compassionate and could light up a room with her presence. The void she is leaving is unimaginable but her family is comforted knowing she is with our Heavenly Father and free from pain.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Mark; daughter, Jessica Waltmon (Jonathan); son, Benjamin; grandchildren, Hadley, Jaxon, Troy and Lincoln of Kingwood, Texas; mother, Imogene Smith of Lake Charles, La.; brothers and their spouses, Pete (Jackie) Smith of Atascocita, Texas, Steve (Kathy) Smith and Leslie (Shelly) Smith, all of Lake Charles, La. She is also survived by her father-in-law, Jim Kraus; sister-in-law, Kathy Kraus; as well as brothers-in-law and their spouses, Dr. Steven Kraus (Dr. Rachel Barton) and Mike (Kathleen) Kraus, all of Calgary, Alberta; nieces and nephews, Eric, Lauren, Cody, Megan, Samuel, Alexis, Ethan, Molly, Cydney and Samantha. She was preceded in death by her father, Hollie Smith; sister, Linda Langley; mother-in-law, Darlene Kraus.
Memorial service will be held for Barbara at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022, at the Kingwood Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Kingwood Church of Christ.
