Sharon Lynne Young, 77, of Lake Charles, La., went to be with her Savior at 12:05 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2022, in a local care facility.
Mrs. Young was born Dec. 3, 1944, in Beaumont, Texas, and was a 1963 graduate of DeRidder High School. She continued living in DeRidder until moving to Lake Charles in 1985. She worked part-time at Thompson’s Gifts and once she moved to Lake Charles, she worked a number of years at Lakeside National Bank. She later worked at various accounting firms throughout the years and as a firewatcher for the plants. Mrs. Young enjoyed crafts of all sorts, especially sewing. She also took great pride in the appearance of her house and could often be found gardening, planting and working her yard. She was a member of the Apostolic Temple and was a true woman of God, always put others before herself.
Mrs. Young is survived by her children, Dawn Eccles (Steve) and Cherie Garza (David), all of Lake Charles, James Cryer (Dena) of Palestine, Texas, and John Bercier (Ashley) of Many, La.; brother, Frank Storozyszyn Jr. (Maxine) of Arkansas; sister, Debbie Ball (Charlie) of Tallahassee, Fla.; grandchildren, Brandon Poindexter, Alanna Garza, Stephen Eccles Jr., Michael Eccles (Jordan), Kristen Eccles, Evelyn Bercier and Hannah Bercier; and one great-granddaughter on-the-way, Reese Eccles.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mitch Young; parents, Ilena Storozyszyn and Frank Storozyszyn Sr.; and brother and sister-in-law, Bryan and Jane Storozyszyn.
Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 16, 2022, at the Apostolic Temple. Pastors Ricky Treece and Jordan Anderson will officiate. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in DeRidder, La., under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the church from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and continue on Friday from 9 a.m. until the start of the service.
The family would like to express a special word of thanks to Harbor Hospice, Resthaven Nursing and Rehabilitation and to the staff at St. Patrick Hospital, especially Vicki McCall, for all of the care and compassion given.
