William “Bill” Harold James

William Harold “Bill” James, 74 years old, passed away Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022 in a local hospice care center. He was born on June 6, 1948 to Gilbert H. and Velta Suire James in Crowley, La.
Bill grew up in Crowley, La., and was a graduate of Crowley High School. He served his county honorably in the United States Air Force. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan during the Vietnam War. He retired from Northrup Grumman after 20 years of service as an Aircraft Mechanic. He was a member of St. Martin dePorres Catholic Church, serving as an usher for many years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and made friends easily. Through the years, he wrote romantic poetry for his beloved wife, Barbara whom he adored.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 52 years, Barbara Suire James; his brothers, Vickie David James, Ronnie Hugh James, and Robert James. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dale Abshire.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2022 at St. Martin dePorres Catholic Church. Msgr. Jace Eskind will serve as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m.
