For more than two years, Quentin Green’s family has had to wonder who killed the 43-year-old inside his Rhorer Street home in Welsh.

Now, the Welsh Police Department is putting new energy and a fresh set of eyes on reviewing the case to try to bring some closure to the family.

“It’s never really been a cold or closed case, we just had other homicides cases that happened and we had to put this one aside,” Police Chief Marcus Crochet. “Now with a new investigator and new technology we are hoping to bring closure to the Green family.”

The case is the only unsolved homicide in Welsh.

“We will be shaking some bushes and rattling some cages,” Crochet said.

Crochet said he is not making any promises, but wants the family to know Detective Chris Meyers will be using his years of experience in investigation and knowledge of new technology in DNA and advances in crime forensics to shed new light on the case.

“Chris and I have spoken about this and Chris is so knowledgeable about modern technology, especially using DNA that has come out since this homicide occurred,” Crochet said. “It will be a new set of eyes on the case for us.”

Green was found dead inside his home in the 200 block of Rhorer Street on Feb. 29, 2020 after a friend saw him lying on the living room floor and called police.

“The friend had gone over and tried to knock on the door but was unable to make contact, so he went to look in the window,” Crochet said. “That’s when he noticed Quentin laying on the floor in the living room area.”

The friend left the residence and called the police.

Upon arrival, officers entered the home and found Green deceased, he said.

“We knew it wasn’t a natural death, “ Crochet said. “It looked like he had been severely beaten.”

An autopsy determined the cause of death as blunt force trauma.

There was no forced entry into the home and nothing was reported missed, according to the initial investigation.
