JENNINGS – John Richard Wimbrow, born March 7, 1950, son of the late Roy and Audrey (Higginbotham) Wimbrow, passed away, Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2022, at the age 72.
John enlisted in the U.S. Navy and worked as avionics technician until he retired from service after 21 years. He was a faithful member for 33 years of the Belle Chasse Masonic Lodge #469 F&AM, a graduate of Sowela Technical College and was of the Baptist Faith. John enjoyed fishing, playing dominos, spending time with his family and was a collector of many things.
Survivors are his wife, Melinda Pousson Wimbrow; sons, John Wimbrow Jr. (Kim), Jason Wimbrow (Baylie), Allen Atkins (Kelly); 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roy Wimbrow Jr.; daughter-in-law, Brandy Wimbrow.
Funeral service is Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022, at 2 p.m. in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Bro. Ray Wells will officiate. Cremation will follow the service under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation begins Saturday from 12 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m.
