Gary Joseph LaHood Sr., age 63, of Lake Charles, La., died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2022.
He was born March 12, 1959, to the parents of John and Dorothy “Dot” (Shirley) LaHood who preceded him in death. Also, preceding him in death was his son, Dillon Dassinger.
Gary was a graduate of LaGrange High School where he was a four-year Letterman in track and cross country. Subsequent to graduating in 1977, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country for four years.
He is survived by his sisters, Janice Higginbotham and spouse Jimmy and Kim LaHood; brother, Randy LaHood and spouse Bridget, all of Lake Charles, La.; sons, Gary LaHood Jr. and spouse Sharon of Sulphur, La., Randall LaHood and spouse Ronda of Groves, Texas, and Marc LaHood and spouse Bree of Lake Charles, La.; grandchildren, Kiya, Graham, Bailee, Lucy, Livi, Nasir and Isabel; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Gary adored his grandchildren and loved spending time with them. He especially loved his time at the softball field watching them play and was loved by their extended softball family.
A small service for family and friends will be announced at a later date.
