Beauregard Electric: 1,000 out of power near DeRidder

Heavy rains in Beauregard Parish on Wednesday left about 1,000 people in the DeRidder area without power, according to officials.
Beauregard Electric Cooperative, Inc. officials reported the outage had been caused by a broken crossarm, which then resulted in a pole fire.
The entire pole had to be replaced and BECi crew members had to bring in off-road equipment to make the necessary repairs.
Officials said they estimated the outage would be restored by late Wednesday evening
