Isidora “Dodie” Fuselier, age 81, of Lake Charles, La., went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2022, surrounded by those who loved her. Isidora was born Oct. 11, 1940, to parents Joseph and Mary Gonzales in Capulin, Colo. She lived the majority of her life in CO but moved to the Lake area where she spent the remainder of her life. She married Albert Fuselier Sr. when she was 16 years old and remained married for 65 years until his passing.
Isidora, known to those who loved her as Dodie, was known to be a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Family meant everything to her and her home was never empty. Christmas and Easter were her favorite holidays, not only because she loved the significance behind the holiday, but because her family came together as one. Dodie was also known to have a wonderful sense of humor that was unique to her. If you didn’t think something she said was funny, you clearly didn’t have a good sense of humor. Dodie also enjoyed a good cup of coffee paired with a sweet of some sort. No one could come between her and her precious coffee. She also loved to sew, ironing, music, dancing and had a large porcelain doll collection.
Dodie was a very deeply religious woman who loved her Lord and Savior. She instilled her love of God into her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Prayer was largely significant to her and her family and helped them through some hard times. Through God’s grace before her passing she was able to see the majority of her family before she passed in to God’s arms.
She will be welcomed into Heaven by her parents; husband, Albert Fuselier Sr.; several siblings; and son-in-law, Mark Talbot Sr.
Those left to cherish her memory are sons, Albert Fuselier Jr. and wife Rita of Lake Charles, La., and Euric Fuselier and Kristi of Beaumont, Texas; daughters, Teri Boudreaux and Dave of Lake Charles, La., Therese Talbot of Lake Charles; brother, George Gonzales and wife Stella of Twin Falls, Idaho; sister, Helen Fuselier of Colorado; grandchildren, Sheila Sartori, Euric Fuselier, Rebecca Swire, Shantel Morris, Mark Talbot Jr., Kateri Land, Travis Addington, Ty Fuselier and Trace Fuselier.
She leaves behind a host of great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces that were of the utmost importance to her that will miss her dearly.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Brighton Bridge Hospice for their love and care of Dodie.
