Mary Jane Micelle Smith, 70, of Lake Charles passed away Monday, Aug. 1, 2022, in the comfort of her home.
Mrs. Smith was born Feb. 27, 1952, in Lake Charles, to John and Angelina Micelle. She was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles. She was a graduate of St. Charles Academy and went on to work in accounting for her family’s business, John Micelle Meat Packing, for many years, later Coushatta and retired from L’Auberge Casino Resort. She loved the rodeo, country music, traveling, spending time with her family and following son Mark’s band in support and to hear them play. She loved to cook, spaghetti and red velvet cake being a couple of her famous dishes and she especially enjoyed eating out with family and friends.
Mrs. Smith will be most remembered for her joyful spirit, her love and devotion to her family and for having made each of them feel welcome and special always.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of twenty-four years, Jack Smith, Jr., son, Mark Reeves (Gayla); daughter, Deena Milner (Jared); step children, Shannon Smith (Sherry) and Gina Smith; niece and sister of heart, Susan Louviere Darbonne; sisters-in-law, Sherry Micelle and Doris Smith; brothers-in-law, Ronald Smith and Philip Smith; grandchildren, Wade and Mason Reeves, Cole and Cooper Milner; two step great-grandchildren; fifteen nieces and nephews, as well as, many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, John Micelle, Morris Micelle (Audrey), Frank Micelle, Victor Micelle and Jerry Micelle (Shirley) and one sister, Rose Anna Micelle Louviere (Nelson).
The family of Mrs. Smith wishes to express heartfelt thanks to Harbor Hospice and her nurse Ginger for their excellence in kindness and care during this difficult time.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, 2022, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Father Paul Jessen will officiate. Interment services will follow at Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Thursday will be from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a Tribute service at 6:30 p.m. followed by a Cursillo Rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume Friday at 8 a.m. in the funeral home.
