The Beauregard and Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Offices are providing support to the DeQuincy Police Department in the ongoing search for a DeQuincy man not seen since Friday, according to authorities.
Major Detective Jerry Bell confirmed Monday that the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office was providing K9 deputies and their search dogs while Calcasieu Parish authorities provide air support in the means of helicopter searches after the vehicle driven by 76-year-old Eddie Charles Thompson was found.
Bell said Thompson’s 2003 silver Honda Accord had been located on an old logging road near Oretta Cemetery by two kids riding four wheelers through the area.
Bell said the vehicle had become bogged down in the road’s mud.
He said a foot search of the wooded area near the road was expected to begin Monday evening.
Louisiana State Police had issued a Silver Alert for Thompson on Saturday after he was reportedly last seen early Friday morning, July 8, on Jake Rigmaiden Road in DeQuincy.
Authorities said Thompson suffers from a condition that may impair his judgement.
He is described as a white male with gray hair and brown eyes. He is approximately 5’9” tall and weighs about 160 pounds.
Anyone who believes they may have seen Thompson is encouraged to contact DeQuincy Police at 337- 786-4000.
