Eleanor Annelle Lyons

Eleanor Annelle Lyons, 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, in a local care facility. She was born on July 6, 1930, to Roy and Hilda Kaough in Lake Charles, La.
Eleanor was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles, La. She graduated from Lake Charles High School in 1948, where she was a proud member of the Kilties. Eleanor served as secretary for the Calcasieu Parish School Board from 1952 to 1958, and then went on to serve at LaGrange Senior High School from 1972 until 1982 as assistant secretary to the principal. She was a past member of St. Henry Catholic Church and St. Margaret Catholic Church, and later, Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church.
Mrs. Lyons enjoyed traveling. She and her husband, Mike were fortunate enough to be able to travel all over the world. In 1982 they moved to Saudi Arabia for his work. She also enjoyed toile painting, reading, and working in her garden. Eleanor and her husband Mike loved to enter mini craft shows. This is where Eleanor made many friends and became known for her beautiful artistic talents. She was a member of the Lake Charles Ballet Society. She was very involved in her children’s and her grandchildren’s school and their extracurricular activities, and made it known that she was extremely proud of each of them.
Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Steve Lyons (Sherry Cart) of Lake Charles, and Jeffery Lyons of San Francisco; two grandchildren, Scott Lyons (Elizabeth) of Lake Charles, La., Sarah Lyons White (Jeremy) of Hammond, La.; four great-grandchildren, Wes Lyons, Lucy Lyons, Karter White and Maggie White.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband of 60 years, Michael Lyons.
Her funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 11, 2022, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Msgr. Harry Grieg will officiate. Visitation at Johnson Funeral Home will be on Monday from 10 a.m. until the start of the service at 1:30 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 1:00 PM. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral home of Lake Charles.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Grand Cove Nursing home and Rehab Center, and Brighton Bridge Hospice for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Margaret Catholic School.
