The Dino & Dragon Stroll is stampeding into the Lake Charles Civic Center this weekend for children to embark on an adventure of a lifetime.
The tour allows families to explore and get in-person interactions with cinematic and life-size creatures. Dinosaurs from the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods will be on display as well as some fantastical dragons. The creatures have moving heads, necks, tails, wings, eyes blinking, mouths that open and close, breathing movements, synchronized sounds and roars that make them seem real and alive.
During the tour many will encounter enormous animatronic dinosaurs like the T-Rex, which is 28-feet tall and more than 60-feet long, and the outrageously huge Apatosaurus, which is 24-feet tall and 65-feet long.
Story time and hands-on craft stations are also planned during the indoor event. There will also be animated attractions, rides and activities throughout the Civic Center. Themed rides such as bounce house inflatables (socks are required), dinosaur scooter and a walking dinosaur ride are available for an additional fee.
The initial stroll begins at 8:30 a.m. Saturday in a sensory-modified setting with adjusted sounds and light displays. This stroll has been certified as an autism-friendly event by the Center for Autism & Related Disabilities.
The full experience will begin at 9:45 a.m. through 4 p.m. Sunday sessions are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Admission is free for children under 2, military veterans and those currently serving in the military. Adult and child tickets are $26.99.
The Dino & Dragon Stroll will also partner with a local food bank to “Stomp Out Hunger,” an initiative to help those struggling within each local community.
Guests are encouraged to bring items to the event and place them in the collection bins located at the front entrance of the stroll. All collected food items will then be donated to help children and families in the local community facing hunger and food insecurities.
