Danny Paul Demeritt entered peacefully into rest on Friday, June 10, 2022, at the age of 68 years, 9 months and 26 days, in his home in DeRidder with his loving family by his side. Danny was born on Saturday, Aug. 15, 1953, in Sulphur, La. to Jason Demeritt and Pauline Dowers Demeritt.
Visitation will be on Monday, June 13, 2022, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, La. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 14, 2022, with visitation starting at 10 a.m. until the time of service which will begin at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery in DeRidder, La. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder.
Danny loved fishing, working his cows, and spending time with his family.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 40 years, Sharon King Demeritt of DeRidder; five children, Tish Jackson and husband Robert of DeRidder, Mark Parker and wife Melinda of Katy, Texas, Danny Demeritt Jr. and wife Tonya of DeRidder, Teri Hollyfield and husband Harold of Sulphur, and Traci Weldon and husband Mark of DeRidder; mother, Pauline Demeritt of DeRidder; 14 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a host of friends.
Preceded in death by his father, Jason Demeritt; son, Lee Demeritt; granddaughter, Jordan Demeritt; siblings, Teri Jill Demeritt, Blane D. Demeritt, and Marsha LaVergne.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Harold Hollyfield, Kent Demeritt, Kade Demeritt, Drew Gilchriest, Lane Gilchriest, and Mark Weldon.
