Nancy Hansen

Nancy Ann Hollis Hansen, 58, of Westlake, La., passed away peacefully at 8:38 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2022 in a local care facility.
Ms. Hansen was born Nov. 23, 1963 in Lake Charles, La., and lived most of her life in Westlake, La. She was a 1981 graduate of Westlake High School and graduated from McNeese State University with her Bachelor’s degree in Science and her Master’s degree in Education. She worked for the Calcasieu Parish School Board as a science teacher for 25 years teaching Chemistry and Biology. The majority of her years teaching were at Westlake High School, where she retired in 2015. Throughout the years, she kept numerous animals and snakes in the classroom. She also was the sponsor for the Westlake Quiz Bowl team. She always supported her Rams and could be found at most of the Westlake Baseball and Football games. Ms. Hansen was a member of First Baptist Church of Westlake, where she previously sang in the choir. She was an avid reader and loved to spend time with her family, especially her granddaughters. She also enjoyed gardening, loved sunflowers, collected miniature tea sets, and was always caring for her cats and every cat in the neighborhood.
Ms. Hansen is survived by her sons, Scott Hansen and wife Alisha of Nederland, Texas, and Grant Hansen and wife Kaylan of Horseshoe Lake, Ark.; brother, David Wayne Hollis and wife Sherry of Katy, Texas; sisters, Susan Viator of Lake Charles, and Mary Hollis Turner of Westlake, La.; her aunt that she loved like a sister, Jane Daigre; her granddaughters, Bethany, Harlee, Shaye, and Aubrielle Hansen; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Anita and Marvin Hollis; brothers-in-law, V. J. Viator and Alan Turner; nephew, Caleb Turner; and uncle, Joe Daigre.
Her funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. The Rev. Wayne McEntire will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the start of the service.
