A final group of deployed Fort Polk soldiers returned to their loved ones this week after serving overseas for the past six months, according to Fort Polk officials.
The last group of soldiers with the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division planted their boots on Louisiana soil Thursday morning.
10th Mountain Division spokesperson, Maj. Andrea Kelly said that a combined 650 soldiers were greeted by multiple welcome home ceremonies held throughout the week beginning May 25, when the unit’s first 218 soldiers returned.
The soldiers had been deployed to Kuwait where they served as part of the Crisis Response Task Force in support of the CENTCOM region.
