2-year-old hit by gunfire after fight at Buddy Prejean Park

A 21-year-old woman has been arrested after firing into a vehicle Saturday morning following a fight at Buddy Prejean Park. A 2-year-old and an adult inside the car were injured.
Lake Charles Police Sgt. Brenda Treadway said the shooting occurred at about 11 a.m. in the 800 block of Walters Street.
Treadway said Haiti Jones fired six shots into a vehicle that was occupied by seven people. Of the seven people, two were children ages 2 and 7 months.
Two people were wounded in the shooting, including one adult and the 2-year-old child, who was struck in the hand. Both victims were transported to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries, Treadway said.
During the course of the investigation, Treadway said it was learned that all parties involved met at Buddy Prejean Park for a mutual fight. After the fight, the suspect followed the victims to the 800 block of Walters Street were the shooting occurred.
Following the shooting, the suspect vehicle then left the Walters Streetlocation, and was later located by the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office at La. 14 and 10th Street in Lake Charles.
Jones was arrested and charged with six counts of Aggravated Criminal Damage, five counts of Aggravated Assault with a firearm and two counts of Aggravated second-degree Battery.
Judge Derrick Kee set her bond at $400,000.
