The bigs just keep on coming.
Saturday Walker Timme, a 6-foot-8 power forward out of Richardson, Texas, verbally committed to play next fall at McNeese State.
Timme is a 2-star from Link Year Preparatory School. He is the brother of Gonzaga start Drew Timme, who has been a big part of the Zags success of late.
Walker Timme made the announcement on his twitter page with the words “Geaux Pokes.”
Last season, the younger Timme averaged 12.8, 8.1 rebounds and 4.6 assists a game. He also had just over one blocked shot a game.
He finished shooting 56 percent from the field and 41 percent from 3-point range.
Link Hoops called Walker Time a “gym rat, coachable, highly skilled and phenomenal human being. Elite footwork, elite passing out of the post. He can stretch the floor and has an extremely soft touch around the rim.”
Once Walker Timme officially signs he will add to a very good recruiting class for head coach John Aiken, who will be entering his second year at the helm of the Cowboys.
Last week McNeese signed 6-foot-8, 218-pound Dionjahe Thomas from the Legacy School in Spring, Texas. He is a 3-star recruit who started his prep career at Ellender High in Houma.
McNeese beat out schools like Tulane, Louisiana-Lafayette and Southern Mississippi for Thomas’ signature.
One Wednesday Aiken announced the signing of three players, all who play mostly on the perimeter. He hopes to add at least one more big and another perimeter player in the coming days.
Thomas averaged 16.4 points, 8.6 rebounds and 2.3 blocked shots a game last season.
The previous season Thomas earned District 8-4A MVP and and Louisiana Sports Writers Association Class 4A first-team all-state honors. He averaged 24 points, 13 rebounds, six blocks, three assists and two steals.
