A Lake Charles man was arrested Sunday by Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office after detectives responded to a local hospital in reference to rape.         

Spokesperson Kayla Vincent said during the initial investigation detectives learned Braylen M. Leday, 23, 2034 13^th St., confirmed he had sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 12, who was a family acquaintance.

After detectives spoke with Leday he was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with first-degree rape.

Judge Tony Fazzio set his bond at $900,000.

The investigation is continuing and more charges are possible, Vincent said.
