In this edition of the Three Point Stance, Rodrick Anderson and Warren Arceneaux discuss the Tuesday/Wednesday schedule for baseball and softball and track and field.

What is the best baseball game on the schedule?

WA: Jennings at South Beauregard. The Bulldogs started the season slow, but have won four of six games in District 4-3A play. South Beauregard has been inconsistent, getting swept in two district series with a sweep of their own in the middle. The young Knights team needs to develop some consistency before the postseason begins.

RA: Leesville at DeRidder. The Dragons have won eight of their last 10 games to move into the top 10 in the Class 4A power rankings and share the lead in District 3-4A with Tioga. Leesville is coming off their best offensive game of the season, a 17-1 win over Peabody.

What is the most interesting softball game?

WA: Acadiana at Barbe. The Bucs are undefeated in District 3-5A play and have a showdown with Sam Houston coming up next weekend, but Acadiana can’t be overlooked. The Rams are 4-1 in district play and still in the title chase.

RA: Kinder at DeQuincy. The Tigers can get back into the District 5-2A title race with a win. Kinder edged DeQuincy 5-3 in the first meeting behind an eight strikeout performance by Bri Fontenot. Both teams are in the top five of the Class 2A power rankings.

Name a track and field athlete to watch.

WA: Barbe sprinter Jamaal Levi had his best meet of the season last week, running 10.7 in the 100 and 21.9 in the 200. He’ll be in a field with other top sprinters Kaden Blalock of Sulphur and Shannon Jackson of Washington-Marion.

RA: Iowa sophomore two-sport athlete Jaya Gradney moved to No. 3 in the long jump (17-7½) in Class 3A. She will be challenged by a pair of 17-foot jumpers at the Sam Houston Relays on Wednesday in Barbe’s Ariel Williams and Sulphur’s Bridget Trahan.
