DeRidder Mayor Misty Clanton was elected to a second term Saturday night, according to unofficial results from the Secretary of State’s Office.
Clanton won 1,272 votes, or 60 percent, of the votes cast in Saturday’s election, defeating Michael D. Harris who won 808 votes, or 38 percent, and Kelly St. Germaine who won 50 votes, or 2 percent.
Beauregard voters also re-elected District 5 councilman Keith Hooper and District 4 councilman Randy Larken to their seats.
Hooper won 55 percent of votes over candidates “MK” Dokwal and Raymond Henderson, while Larken won 54 percent, or 170 votes, over candidate Dane Bergeron, who won 147 votes.
Wayne J. Godfrey Sr. was elected to the council’s District 1 seat with 64 percent, or 228 votes, unseating incumbent Kimaron Moore who won 129 votes.
Two seats for the city’s Councilman-at-Large seat may remain undecided after Saturday’s election and require a run-off election.
According to a formula used by the Secretary of State’s Office in elections of more than one seat, the two victors would have been required to win at least 866 votes each. Of the five candidates, Danny Reynolds won 835 votes, incumbent Vincent Labue won 820 votes, and Billy Spikes won 785 votes over the remaining two candidates; Lydia Reynolds who won 631 votes and Paula Spikes Piper who won 389 votes.
The position of Merryville Police Chief will also require a run-off election after no single candidate secured a majority of votes Saturday.
Randal Yawn received 42 percent of the votes, or 94, while Tommy Robberson received 32 percent, or 71 votes, and Robert Thompson won 27 percent, or 60 votes.
Merryville’s town council did have five clear winners with Sara Barnes Sellers, Fred Walker, Daniel Campbell, Sharon Myers, and Darrell Thompson being elected by voters.
