MOSS BLUFF — Despite blustery conditions Thursday afternoon, Westlake’s Tristan Goodly and Sulphur’s Kaden Blalock set top marks for Southwest Louisiana this high school track and field season at the Sam Houston Bronco Relays.

Blalock, a junior two-sport athlete, bettered his area leading 100-meter dash mark and jumped to the top of the 200 standings. He cracked 11 seconds in the 100 (10.86) and clocked in at 21.68 seconds in the 200, knocking almost 2 seconds off his previous top time of 23.32.

Goodly, a junior who won the Division II indoor long and triple jumps, set a personal best to win the triple jump on his final jump of 46 feet, 6 inches with a brisk crosswind. He won the long jump (22-91/2). Goodly won both events by more than 2 feet.

Alexandria swept the team titles led by its strength in the relay events, winning all eight.

In the boys title race, Sulphur owned a one-point lead over Sam Houston with two events left, but Alexandria scored 24 points in the final two events to beat the Tors 122-117, while the host Broncos were third (113).

The Tors got a win in the 1,600 run from Kason Comeaux (5:03.02) and a pair of runner-up finishes in the field from Brandon Daigle in the discus (120-1) and javelin (155-7).

Sam Houston was led by first-place finishes by shot putter Colby Bertrand (127-4), Ethan Vest in the 400 (54.29) and Trenton Monceaux in the 300 hurdles (42.78).

The Alexandria girls scored 170 points, while Sulphur was second with 115 and Iowa had 114.

Sulphur senior Bridget Trahan swept the girls hurdles events, breaking 15 seconds in the 100 for the first time at 14.77 plus a 50.67 in the 300.
