Marie graduated high school from Lecompte High in 1951. Marie and Ray’s marriage spanned four generations and was filled with passion and adventure, there was never a dull moment. Each generation has a special memory that will always be treasured. As this love story chapter ends, a new chapter begins each with their own lasting memory.
Marie’s smile was always close to the surface, and she never met a stranger. She was small in stature but would fill a room. She was very proud of her Cajun heritage. She retired as a substitute teacher in Calcasieu Parish with 25 years of service settling in at Frasch Elementary in Sulphur, La. for the last 20 years. She would receive special notes of affection from the children, which she treasured and kept. Marie loved to travel, going to many countries abroad. Marie and Ray visited every state in the United States, many more than once. Marie will be dearly missed.
Marie liked to spend time reading and fishing at the family camp in Toledo Bend. There were many fishing trips spent on the lake at night admiring the star-lit sky while enjoying a picnic. She spent hours studying cookbooks and saving recipes but liked to go out and eat the best. Marie had her own motorcycle and enjoyed it for many years riding it on back roads. Ray recounted that he could be blind and miss nothing as Marie saw beauty in everything and would describe it in detail even as he was looking at it. Marie will be missed by many.
