Two people have been arrested in a fatal wreck on Oct. 28, 2021, near the intersection of Johnny Jones and Arthur Vincent roads in Sulphur.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kayla Vincent said a truck traveling southbound and a car traveling northbound, both on Johnny Jones Road, collided head on and the passenger in the car, Hunter W. Quarles, 20, of Sulphur was pronounced dead at the scene.
Evidence collected at the scene along with witness statements revealed the driver of the car, Mason C. Young, 20, and the driver of the truck, Drake A. Young, 22, were driving in a careless and reckless manner, which ultimately led to the crash. After further investigation, on March 2, detective issued warrants for their arrest.
On March 7, Mason and Drake were both arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with negligent homicide. They were released later the same day on $40,000 bond each, set by Judge Tony Fazzio.
