Michael Queenan

Michael Robert “Mike” Queenan, age 83, of Sulphur, La., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 2, 2022. Mike was born on March 17, 1938, in St. Louis, Mo. Mike was reunited with his wife, Marlene Gwen Queenan, age 71, who passed away peacefully on Monday, Aug. 2, 2021. Marlene was born on Nov. 15, 1949, in Lake Charles, La.
Mike moved to Lake Charles in the early 50s with his family where he attended LaGrange High School. He later went to work with his Father in the family business, Ed Queenan and Sons, which later became Mike Queenan Equipment Company.
Mike enjoyed racing dirt bikes and bowling in his early years. He enjoyed spending time with his siblings and their spouses’ playing cards and hanging out. Family was very important to him and there was always plenty of jokes and laughs. Mike’s family was one of his prize possessions.
Mike and Marlene were preceded in death by his parents, Edward Joseph and Isabel Colter; her father, Allen E. Hoover, Sr.; mother, Constance Marlene Harrison; siblings: Richard “Rick” Dean Queenan, Shirley Bond.
Those left behind to cherish their memory are their children, Michael Kevin Queenan (Dana), Brian Keith Queenan (Angela), Karen Ann Queenan, Kandy Queenan Moreno (Paul), Kelly Queenan Lewis (Robert), Kip Edward Queenan (Jonathan), Maggie Queenan, Kelli Casey, and Charles Adam Queenan; they were Grandpa and MiMi to grandchildren, Anndi Queenan Risinger (Cole), Michael Kevin Queenan, Jr., Corinne Queenan Alley (Travis), Meredith Queenan Kenney (Garrett), Brian Keith Queenan, Jr., Anna Kate Queenan, Amanda Moreno, William Moreno, Courtney Jackson, Emilee Nelson, Michael Wesley Middlebrooks and Elizabeth Quinn Hosket; great-grandchildren, Holt, Hayes, Evelyn, Caroline, Ryan, and Olivia; siblings: Diane Thibodeaux-who passed away later the same day, Vicki Fitkin (Tom), Allen Hoover, Jr. (Faye); and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2022, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Chapel. Celebrant, Jody Barrilleaux and Chaplain Alexandria Geovanni will lead services. Mike and Marlene will be laid to rest in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery in Lake Charles.
