Joyce  Sittig

Joyce Litteral Sittig, 90, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022, in her home surrounded by her family.

A native of Sulphur, Joyce was a 1948 Sulphur High School graduate. She married Frank William “Bill” Sittig in Fort Bliss, Texas on June 3, 1948. Joyce followed along with her husband throughout his military career until he retired from the service in the early 1960’s. She and Bill moved back to Sulphur in 1983, residing next to her son.  Joyce proudly served as a member of Houston River Waterworks first board of directors, helping to establish the Houston River community. She was long time member of St John Bosco Catholic Church in Westlake and for the last 10 years attended Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church with her family.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Era Litteral; sisters, Lerine Litteral and Geraldine Litteral Franklin; and her husband of 54 years, Bill Sittig. 

Left to cherish her memory are her son, David Sittig and daughter-in-law, Terry; three grandchildren, Brent Sittig and wife Jessica, Blake Sittig and wife Danna; and Britney Spell and husband Michael; great-grandchildren, Haley, Sydney, Jacie, Nicole, Caitlin, Austin, Brandon and Bailey; and four great-great-grandchildren. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Feb. 28, 2022, in Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery of Lake Charles. Visitation will be 3 p.m. – 8 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 27, 2022, in Johnson & Robison Funeral Home of Sulphur with a recitation of the Rosary at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Monday from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m., when we leave for Mass.
