Benjamin “June” Harrison Ballou Jr.

Benjamin Harrison Ballou Jr. “June”, 87, was born Feb. 1, 1935, in Jennings, La., to Benjamin and Dolvina Ardoin Ballou Sr. Born in Jennings, he was reared in Elton and later moved to DeQuincy, La., where he was a member of Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church. Mr. Ballou worked as a rice farmer, he also worked for Boise Southern, and later retired from DeQuincy Memorial Hospital. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and a U.S. Navy Veteran. He departed this life Sunday, Feb. 13, 2022, at 4:50 p.m. in a local hospital.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Mary Jane Ceaser Ballou of 63 years; two sons, Timothy Joseph (Dorothy) Ballou Sr. of Highlands, Texas, and Travis Troy (Sylvia) Ballou of Cottonport, La.; two sisters, Mary Nell (Laymon) Toussaint of Elton, La., and Loretha Pitts of Baltimore, Md.; two brothers, Leroy Ballou Sr. of Sulphur, La., and Wilson (Emily) Ballou of Elton, La.; 12 grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren, godchildren, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tina Michelle Ballou; son, Terry Ballou; and sisters, Lorena McMahon and Willie Mae Spikes. Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 19, 2022, from 9 a.m. with his funeral following at 11 a.m., at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church located at 203 S. Grand Avenue in DeQuincy. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Elton, La.
