Eulice  Benoit Jr.

Eulice Benoit Jr., 93, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022 in a local hospital. 

He was a native of Scott and had been a longtime resident of Vinton moving from the Houston, Texas area. Eulice was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and was a proud member of the VFW Post #9854 in Vinton. He was employed for many years with Brown and Root before his retirement. To Eulice, music was his life. He loved entertaining others by singing and playing guitar. He had written many songs over the years and had even produced his own CD.

Survivors include his sister, Dorothy “Dot” Vice of Vinton; his grandsons, Luke McElveen and wife Christinna, John McElveen, and Timothy McElveen; five great-grandchildren; his step-son, Aubrey Duhon; as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, Dale Reed McElveen; and a brother, Curtis Benoit. 

A Celebration of Eulice’s Life will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15 in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home led by family members, Jody Barrilleaux and Greg Martin, as well as family friend, Mel Estess. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
