Paul Naumann Hay

Paul Naumann Hay passed away Friday, Jan. 21, 2022, at Brookdale Senior Living Center in Beaumont, Texas. He was born March 24, 1940, in Lake Charles, La. to Carl and Edith Hay.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Mary Ann Podrasky Hay.
Paul grew up in Lake Charles, graduating from Lake Charles High School in 1958. He attended Louisiana State University where he earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree in 1963. Soon after graduating he married Mary Ann Podrasky and entered military service. He served in the U.S. Army in the 146th Engineer Detachment and the Agency for International Development. He spent three years in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, assigned to an extended temporary duty from 8th Special Forces Group, 1st Special Actions Force, Panama Canal Zone. He returned to the states in 1966.
Paul had a distinguished career as an architect, practicing in Southeast Texas for 45 years.
Upon arriving in Beaumont in 1967, he worked with Pitts, Meban Phelps and White, with Dickson, Dickson, Buckley and Bullock, and had a partnership with Bryan Hendricks before entering private practice as Hay and Associates. In 1979, Hay and Associates merged with Charles Bullock, A.I.A., J. Aubrey Dickson, P.E. and J. Rob Clark, A.I.A., to form Architecture and Engineering Design Group. In 1984 the firm merged with George Ingram Associates to form Architectural Alliance Incorporated.
After the death of his wife Mary Ann in 2008, Paul continued to practice architecture until he retired in 2012.
Paul was a long time member of St. Anne Catholic Church where he served on the board and was President of the Serra Club. He was also active with the West End Rotary Club, YMBL, was Ambassador for the Beaumont Chamber of Commerce, served as a mentor for the Ben Rogers I Have a Dream Program, and served on the Cemetery Committee forTemple Emanuel.
He is survived by his wife of nine years, Beverly Petrova Hickman Hay; daughter, Catherine Monica Hay of Beaumont; son, Carl Frederick Hay and wife Rowena; grandchildren, Brandon, Madeleine, and Nicholas Hay of Houston; brother, Dennis Gene Hay and wife Connie of Lake Charles, La.; niece ,Heidi Lynn Rowley and husband, Jim, and their children Caroline and Liza of Baton Rouge, La.; nephew, Ryan Hay of Houston, and numerous cousins; Beverly’s children, Cheryle and husband Dwayne Frye, granddaughter, Alana Frye, grandson, Alex Frye of Orlando, Fla.; grandson, Thor MacKenzie and wife Abbie, great-granddaughter, Felicity of Knoxville, Tenn.; Marc and wife Simona Hickman, and granddaughter, Mila Rose of Boca Raton, Fla.
To those who knew Paul, he will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, willingness to put others before himself, his quick wit, and his Elvis impersonations.

Entombment with Military Honors was held at Consullata Cemetery, 2300 Country Club Road, Lake Charles, La.
