Marie Ann Palma

Ms. Marie Ann Palma, 89, passed away on Jan. 5, 2022, at home. She was born in Liberty, Texas moved to Deridder, La. and finally Lake Charles.
Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. (Mary Marcello) Alfred Palma Sr. She graduated from McNeese with a Plus 30 Masters degree in Education and she taught elementary school. She was a life long devoted parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading, learning, traveling, family & friends, and EWTN.
She was a relentless advocate for disadvantaged people.
She is survived by her children, Paul Irving Henry of Lake Charles, and Kara Elaine Henry Bertrand (Scott); two grandchildren who called her “Toots”, Asa Bertrand and Amelia Bertrand Bordelon (John); and one great-granddaughter, Katherine Elaine Bordelon, all of Pineville, La.
She was a proud single mother with a loving and supportive family which included Beni Murphy (sister) and Alfred Palma, Jr. (brother) & his wife Margaret. She was an aunt to bunches of nieces and nephews whom she enjoyed imprinting their cheeks with her ruby red lipstick.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother-in-law, Fred. Memorial mass will be on Friday, Jan. 7, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. at OLQH, 3939 Lake Street, Lake Charles, La. with Msgr. Daniel Torres as Celebrant. Visitation is at 2 p.m. at church. Burial service will not be done at this time since she donated her body to Tulane Med School.
