JENNINGS — The Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested a man suspected of stealing a vehicle from his baby’s mother on Christmas Day near Kinder.

Ronald Michael Wayne Davis, 28, of Flatrock, Ala., was arrested after a deputy in Acadia Parish located the stolen vehicle.

Davis was arrested on charges of theft of a motor vehicle in Jeff Davis Parish.

Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Chris Ivey said deputies were dispatched to La. 383 near Kinder on Christmas Day in reference to a stolen vehicle.

The female complaint told deputies her baby’s father had taken the vehicle without permission after they were involved in an argument, Ivey said. During the argument, Davis allegedly slapped the victim and took her car keys, cell phone and purse before fleeing in a 2010 Honda Accord.

The vehicle was later located and the suspect taken into custody by the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office.
