Joseph “Blanco” N. Bourgeois Sr.

Joseph N. “Blanco” Bourgeois Sr., 92, of Lake Charles, La., passed away at 5:25 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 24, 2021 in a care center in Broussard, La.
Mr. Bourgeois was born July 29, 1929 in Church Point, La. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was the owner and operator of Lake City Painters and Sandblasters for 40 years, retiring in 1994. Mr. Bourgeois was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church and a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and will be remembered for his great cooking.
Mr. Bourgeois is survived by his wife of 70 years, Enola “Granny” Duplechain Bourgeois; sons, Joey Bourgeois Jr. and wife Liz of Lake Charles, Tony Bourgeois and wife May Rose of Roberts Cove, Sam Bourgeois of Sugar Land, Texas; brothers, Glenn Bourgeois and wife Mary of Church Point, and Tommy Bourgeois and wife Jo Beth of Grand Lake; sisters, Betty Lou Hernandez and husband Gene of Baton Rouge, La., and Judy Ann Johnson, of Eunice, La.; grandchildren, Tyler Bourgeois, Kendale Jones and husband David, and Seth Davies and wife Kacie; great-grandchildren, Kara and Annette Jones; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John N. and Evelyn Bourgeois; sister, Elora B. Ardoin and husband Colvin; brothers, Ray Bourgeois and Bert Bourgeois and wife Clara Bell; brother-in-law, James Johnson; and grandson, Ben Monroe.
His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 31, 2021 at St. Margaret Catholic Church. Father Nathan Long will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be at University Baptist Church on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a Cursillo Rosary at 6 p.m.
