Jacquelin Ann Lampkin Thurston

Jacquelin Ann Lampkin Thurston, 77, entered her eternal heavenly home on Dec. 20, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. Affectionately known as “Jackie” or “Ms. Tee.” She was the firstborn of Mary Belle Lampkin in Lake Charles, La., on April 27, 1944, where she lived most of her life. She was a long-time member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Lake Charles, La.
She was a graduate of W.O. Boston High School, Class of 1961. Jackie was ambitious, “a Jack-of-All-Trades.” After high school, she lived in Detroit, Mich., Gary, Ind., Houston, Texas, and Lake Charles, La., where she obtained several technical certifications. Later in life, she attended McNeese State University.
She worked in the Calcasieu Parish School System in numerous job roles. Her last position was a Foster Grandparent with the Big Brothers Big Sisters which was personally rewarding for her.
Jackie loved to “Shop Until She Dropped.” She was passionate about giving and oftentimes shared her unique finds with family and friends.
Jackie was welcomed to her heavenly home by her mom, Mary Belle (Mayo) Lampkin; grandfather, Sam Mayo; grandmother, Edolia Stephens; uncles, Richard Mayo (Godfather), Bobbie Mayo Sr. and Eddie Mayo.
Left to cherish fond memories are her two daughters, Cheryl (Michael) Thomas of Bowie, Md. and Tamalyn (Michael) Bohanan of Houston, Texas; five siblings, Theodore Lampkin Jr., of Inglewood, Calif., Jesse (Whelmenia) Mayo of Colorado Springs, Colo., James Mayo of Lake Charles, La., Nelda (Hillary) Broussard of Dallas, Texas, and Joslyn Lampkin of Lake Charles, La.; three granddaughters, Keishlan (Luv) Williams, Micaá Thomas and Ty McKeel; one great-granddaughter, Cypress Belle Williams; one uncle, (Ret.) Col. Anthony J. Polk (Teresa) of Manassas, Va.; one aunt, Agnes Mayo of Lake Charles, La., a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She will be laid to rest in a private service on Dec. 28, 2021, at Combre Memorial Park Mausoleums in Lake Charles, La.
