City, parish announce holiday closures

City of Lake Charles

The city of Lake Charles will observe the Christmas Holiday on Friday, Dec. 24, and the New Year’s Holiday on Friday, Dec. 31. There will be no changes in garbage and trash schedules for these two weeks. Garbage and trash will be picked up on their regularly scheduled days.

Lake Charles City Hall and all other services of the Department of Public Works will be closed on Friday, Dec. 24 in observance of the Christmas Holiday and will resume regular working hours on Monday, Dec. 7. Offices will also be closed on Friday, Dec. 31, in observance of the New Year’s Holiday and will resume regular working hours on Monday, Jan. 3.

Team Green

The Wood Waste Facility, the Team Green Recycling Truck and the Nelson Road Ball Field Recycling Station will observe the following holidays schedule:

Friday, Dec. 24: Closed

Monday, Dec. 27: Normal Operations Resume

Friday, Dec. 31: Closed

Saturday, Jan. 1: Closed

Monday, Jan. 3: Normal Operations Resume

As a reminder, containers and other items for removal shall be placed before the hour of 7 a.m. on collection day or on the evening proceeding collection day. Containers shall be removed no later than 7 p.m. on the day of collection. The owner, occupant, tenant, etc., is responsible for collecting any spillage from the container.

Police Jury

All Calcasieu Parish Police Jury departments will be closed on Thursday, Dec. 23, and Friday, Dec. 24, to observe the Christmas holidays. All offices will reopen Monday, Dec. 27.

There will be no change in the Waste Management pickup schedule. Call Waste Management at 337-436-7229 with any questions or visit wm.com/alerts for updates.

The Solid Waste Convenience Centers, located at 5500 B Swift Plant Road in Lake Charles and at 2915 Post Oak Road in Sulphur, will both be closed Dec. 24 and Dec. 25. They will reopen on Sunday, Dec. 26.

Calcasieu Library

All branches and facilities of the Calcasieu Parish Public Library system will be closed for the Christmas holidays on Thursday, Dec. 23-Sunday, Dec. 26. Branches will resume operation on Monday, Dec. 27.

All branches and facilities will be closed for the New Year holiday on Thursday, Dec. 30-Saturday, Jan. 1.  Branches will reopen on Monday, Jan. 3.

Items can be renewed online at www.calcasieulibrary.org and clicking on the My Account icon at the top of the page or by using the chat feature found on the website, however no fines will be charged during the holiday.
