Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Deputy Brandon Fletcher has served in multiple facets during his nearly 15 years with the department and was an immediate choice for Deputy of the Month for November, according to Sheriff Mark Herford.

“Brandon’s supervisors did not hesitate to nominate him because of the hard work and dedication he constantly displays throughout the office,” Herford said.

Fletcher graduated from Pickering High School in 1995 and began working with BPSO on Feb. 12, 2007 as a corrections officer.

In October 2008, he had the opportunity to begin working in classifications where his responsibilities included coordinating the day-to-day operations between the 36th Judicial District Court, Beauregard District Attorney’s Office, and BPSO.

Within his first year with BPSO, Fletcher was one of the foundational members of what is now the BPSO Chase Team, a team comprised of deputies and K9 partners. He began as an operator for the team and eventually worked his way to becoming the team supervisor in 2018, while simultaneously serving as a member of the BPSO SWAT Team.

While maintaining these duties with BPSO, Fletcher was also able to find the time to take online courses with West Virginia University and earn numerous certificates in criminal forensic investigation.

He possesses an extensive background in martial arts study, earning the rank of instructor in Jeet Klune Do and a blue belt in Gracie Jujitsu. Those skills have allowed him to serve as defensive tactics instructor for the sheriff’s office.

Herford also credited Fletcher for his hard work assisting the parish jail officials during 2020’s devastating hurricanes.

“He was an integral part of maintaining jail operations after Hurricanes Laura and Delta where, for the first time in office history, our entire jail population had to be transferred to another facility, and persons arrested and booked after that time had to be placed in other facilities, as well,” Herford said.

Fletcher said he appreciated the nomination as deputy of the month, but humbly credited his success in his BPSO career with those he works with.

“It is an honor to be selected as Deputy of the Month. It takes all of us to make a difference,” Fletcher told the American Press.
