RAYNE, LA – A “Celebration of Life” will be held at a later date for Jacqueline Shortt Melancon, who passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Nov. 28, 2021.

A native of Lake Charles, Jackie was born on March 6, 1961 to Jack David Shortt and Alice Marie Billedeaux Shortt of Lake Charles.  She graduated from LaGrange Senior High School and had a long career as a Licensed Massage Therapist.

Survivors include her husband of 16 years, Craig T. Broussard of Rayne; her sons, Adam and his wife Marites of Houston, Jared of Lafayette; her daughter, Sarah; and their father, David K. Melancon also of Lafayette.  In addition, Jackie is survived by the loves and lights of her life, her grandchildren, Sophie and Madeline Melancon of Houston, Grace and John Herpin IV of Lafayette. 

Also left to mourn are her mother, Alice Marie Billedeaux Manuel of Moss Bluff; and her siblings and their children Kim Monk and her husband Timothy, Kelli M. McManus, Jessica M. Crador, Brennan and Tyler Monk; Chad Shortt and his wife Cindy, Brandon and Michael Shortt, and Karlee S. Terrell, Paul Shortt and his son Dane.

 She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Shortt, in 2012.
