Joyce  Istre  Thibodeaux

Joyce Istre Thibodeaux, age 86, of Vinton, La., passed away in her home on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021. Joyce was born on June 9, 1935, in Midland, La. 

Joyce was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a faithful member of the Catholic Daughters. Joyce worked as a Bookkeeper for several different companies. Joyce was a devoted homemaker and seamstress who made most of her daughter’s clothing when they were young. She also loved to spend time in her yard, was known for her fried chicken, and her Italian Cream Cake.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Thibodeaux, parents, Wallace and Elda Istre, and a sister, Betty Laurents. 

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Mike Thibodeaux; daughter, Leah Cook; son, Pete Thibodeaux and wife, Lana; daughter, Annette Theriot and husband, Craig; daughter, Alison Scott and husband, David; grandchildren, Bradley, Andy, and Kevin Cook(Jessica), Amy Landry(Cody), Ryan Thibodeaux(Tawne), Matt and Chris Theriot(Desi), Cade(Emily) and Stran Scott; great-grandchildren, Peyton, London, Maxxis, Rori, Jacob, Ariana, Emma, Astride, Tanner, Carter, and a great-granddaughter arriving in April; sisters, Earline Guillory and Barbara Lane Weekly; and a host of nieces and nephews. 

Family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until time of Rosary at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 19, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vinton. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Carlos Garcia officiating. Burial will follow in Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. 

Joyce and her children would like to say a special thank you to their brother, Mike Thibodeaux for his devoted care throughout the years, Ruby Milton, and the staff at Harbor Hospice.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joyce’s memory.
