Light’em up: Blazers torch Jennings for 60 points

Lake Charles College Prep used big plays Thursday night to roll by Jennings 60-35, remaining perfect in District 4-3A play.
The Trailblazers (5-3, 3-0) scored seven touchdowns over the second and third quarters to pull away from the Bulldogs (2-6, 1-2).
Each of the Blazers’ touchdowns covered at least 32 yards. Devonte Guidroz ran for 241 yards and JaRell Joseph added 189. Josiah Bushnell threw for 219 yards and three touchdowns, all to Keshlon Jackson, who had 183 receiving yards.
Guidroz scored on runs of 45, 57 and 79 yards. Joseph had scoring runs of 41, 72 and 75 yards.
Jackson’s touchdown receptions covered 32, 57 and 88 yards.
Jennings had a pair of 100-yard rushers in Rejohn Zeno (18 carries, 135 yards) and quarterback Trevor Etienne (16-115). Zeno scored on a 73-yard run. Etienne had touchdown runs of 5 and 30 yards, threw a 69-yard touchdown to My’keilen Francis and returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown.
Prep had the upperhand in a wild first half that featured six touchdowns in less than 6 minutes to start the second quarter.
Prep took a 21-0 lead on a 79-yard by Guidroz, an 88-yard pass from Bushnell to Jackson and an 85-yard run by Joseph.
The teams traded touchdowns over the rest of the half. Jennings scored on a 95-yard kickoff return by Etienne and 73-yard run by Zeno.
Prep answered with a 57-yard pass from Bushnell to Jackson and 45-yard run by Guidroz to take a 35-14 halftime lead.
Etienne stretched his 100-yard rushing game streak to 14 over the past two seasons.
Guidroz and Joseph each surpassed 100 yards for a second consecutive week. Guidroz has more than 100 yards in each of Prep’s three district wins.
The Blazers face undefeated Iowa on the road next week. The Yellow Jackets (7-0, 2-0) play tonight at Westlake (6-1, 1-1).
