Donald Ray Fontenot

Donald Ray Fontenot, 61, of Sulphur, La., passed away on Sunday, Oct. 17, 2021 in his residence.
Mr. Fontenot was born Feb. 14, 1960 in Kinder, La. and was a 1978 graduate of Westlake High School. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and in the U.S. Army, where he served as a Scout, training alongside the Army Rangers. He worked as an aircraft mechanic for Northrop Grumman for over 20 years. Don was always a perfectionist and was recognized as employee of the month for his accomplishments. He had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and had recently joined a shooting range. Don also enjoyed riding motorcycles and most recently his trike. He will be remembered as a family man, who loved spending time with his siblings and extended family and was a wonderful cook.
Mr. Fontenot is survived by his companion, Linda Ballard of Orange, Texas; brothers, Ronald James Fontenot Jr. and wife Carla of Westlake, and Gary L. Fontenot and wife Angela of North Carolina; sisters, Sharon Fontenot and husband Chris of Lake Charles, and Angela Caston and husband John of Watson, La.; nieces and nephews, Ronald Fontenot III and wife Mandy, Robert Joseph Fontenot and fiancée Brianna Mancillas, Erin Rachel Guillory and husband Josh, Ashley Michelli and husband Kyle, Keith Derek Fontenot, Mallory Anne Lloyd and husband Myles, Lauren Michelle Fontenot, Blair Lamnendola and husband Dale, and Hillary Caston; and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, and other friends and family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Shirley Fontenot.
His memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021 at University Baptist Church. Inurnment will follow in Consolata Cemetery, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. A gathering of family members and friends will be at the church on Saturday from 12 p.m. until the start of the service.
