An inmate who escaped Thursday from the Jennings American Legion hospital has been recaptured.

Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Christopher Ivey said Bryan Wayne Vincent, 34 , was found hiding under a house on Williams Street.

Ivey said Vincent initially ran from the hospital after a transport deputy removed Vincent’s handcuffs so that he could be given an x-ray.

A perimeter was set up around the hospital and several blocks in the vicinity. When Vincent was located hiding under a house, Ivey said he complied with deputies’ orders to come out.

He was taken into custody without further incident and returned to the parish jail.

Vincent was arrested for additional charges of resisting by flight and simple escape.

Vincent was originally booked into the parish jail on Oct. 1 for warrants, resisting an officer and simple escape.
