A Lake Charles man has been arrested in connection to a shooting near the McNeese State University campus earlier this week that left one wounded.
Lake Charles Police Deputy Chief F. Fondel said officers were dispatched to the 500 block of East McNeese Street Monday night to assist campus police with the incident.
Fondel said upon arrival, officers discovered a man with a gunshot wound who was later treated at a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
A joint investigation between the agencies revealed that several people, while standing outside the on-campus apartments on the corner of McNeese and Common streets, were fired upon by a moving vehicle.
Fondel said SWAT members arrested Malique Ezekiel Boutte on Thursday. He is charged with four counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, one count of aggravated second-degree battery and one count of illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities.
Judge Tony Fazzio has set his bond at $330,000.
Fondel said the investigation is ongoing.
