After decades of bringing laughter and light to the world, Frederick Corde Meiburg, 68, died peacefully in a Lake Charles, La. hospital on Aug. 26, 2021. Fred was born on July 19, 1953, in Charleston, S.C. to Hampton Corde and Fredericka Visel Meiburg.

As the owner of the Christian retail business, Shining the Light, Fred shared his faith with the Lake Charles area. His patience and kindness exemplified Christ’s love outside of work; whether with meticulously constructed projects, a lending hand with moving, or the flip of his barbecue spatula, Mr. Fred made anyone around him feel welcome and like family. His dad jokes and his own giggles at them will be heart-breakingly missed, but his legacy of generosity and willingness to help those in need will live far longer than the pain that accompanies his passing.
