Update: Storm-related closures, cancellations announced

- Due to the ongoing threat of severe weather, and for the safety of the staff and patrons, all Calcasieu Parish Public Library branches and facilities will be closed Monday Aug. 30. Items can be renewed online at www.calcasieulibrary.org and clicking on the My Account icon at the top of the page or by using the chat feature found on the website, however no fines will be charged during this closure period.
- Lake Charles City Court will be closed on Monday, Aug. 30.
- Due to recent developments in the Gulf of Mexico and inclement weather heading toward the Louisiana coastline, the team of the Lake Charles Liqui-Moly Pro Watercross National Championships made the decision to cancel the competition scheduled for this weekend, Aug. 28-29.
- The COVID-19 testing site at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital is closed so that those resources can be used in preparation for Hurricane Ida. The site will be placed on pause indefinitely.
- All SWLA Center for Health Services locations (Lake Charles, Lafayette, Crowley and Oberlin) will be closed on Monday, Aug. 30, due to the threat of inclement weather.
- The Lake Charles Trucking Compliance Seminar set for Tuesday, Aug. 31, at Golden Nugget will be rescheduled.
- Due to the incoming weather, there will be no services or activities on Sunday, Aug. 29, at Trinity Baptist Church in Lake Charles.
- The French music jam session featuring Cajun (August) Broussard and Casey Peveto has been rescheduled for Sept. 11.
- The Boys & Girls Clubs of Acadiana’s six locations will be closed Monday, Aug. 30. The Club locations include both Lafayette Clubs, New Iberia, Opelousas, Abbeville and Lake Charles.
