Theresa Faye Blaney

Theresa Faye Blaney, 71, was born July 30, 1950 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to the late Jack and Elneta Tina Lambert Garrett Sr.  A lifelong resident of Lake Charles, she was a member of St. Cathedral Church of God in Christ, where she served on the Usher Board for over thirty years .  Mrs. Blaney was a 1969 graduate of W.O. Boston High School, an advocate for Voters Rights and Civil Rights, and a member of SOLVE, which is Southern Leadership for Voters Engagement. She was also a part of The Concern Citizens Of Lake Charles, where she worked with Mary Morris to educate the community and enjoyed attending the Black Heritage Gallery Exhibits throughout the years.  She departed this life Thursday, August 19, 2021 at 2:10PM in a local hospital.  She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter, Jeanine Blaney; two sons, Gregory and Jermaine (Katherine) Blaney; two brothers, James (Janette) Garrett and Jack (Denise) Garrett Jr.; four grandchildren, Keylan, Triston, Halle, and Kaleigh.  She was preceded in death by her husband, John Blaney; and parents, Jack and Elneta Garrett Sr.; five sisters, Patricia Arceneaux, Ruth Lemelle, Mary Dell Levi, Maryann Stewart, and Reloa Adams; and one brother, Preston Levi.  Her visitation will be Saturday, August 28, 2021 from 9AM with her funeral following at 11AM, at Word of Hope Family Worship Center located at 3975 E. Prien Lake Road, Pastor Charlie Williams.  Pastor Michael Cuba Jr. will officiate.  Burial will be in Combre Memorial Park.
