Sulphur woman arrested for stealing from employer

A Sulphur woman has been charged with 33 counts of fraud after personnel at the bank she worked at told law enforcement she had been transferring money from numerous accounts and making withdrawals, without authorization.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kayla Vincent said Barbara A. Chaisson, 55, 320 Cypress St., made more than 30 unauthorized transactions from January 2019 to June 2021, totaling more than $120,000.

Vincent said Chaisson’s was arrested July 27 and charged with 33 counts of computer fraud; 33 counts of bank fraud; and theft over $25,000.  She was released the following day on a $96,000 bond set by Judge Tony Fazzio.
